Spoilers Ahead
“Rick and Morty” Season 6, Episode 6 begins with Rick chilling at home, while news reporters scratch their heads to find out about that mysterious rift in space. Morty found out that Rick had almost fixed the portal gun, but it still had some bugs. However, Morty is relieved to be done with the portal trip, but his teacher, Mr. Goldenfold, is still having nightmares about the earlier alien invasions. Right at that moment, a strange UFO begins to appear in the sky and travel all around the world. Egypt, with its army, has come forward to defend against future invasion, but as the spaceship door opens, a jewel-helmeted dinosaur steps in front of them and makes their weapons disappear with the help of telekinetic power. Egypt retreats, seeing the absurdity of fighting dinosaurs. After a non-violent invasion, the dinosaurs arrived at the headquarters of UNICEF with a lot of questions. First of all, they want to know where their ancestors are. In response, when the American President clarifies that they are extinct, the dinosaurs cunningly reveal their intentions. They looked at human history in producing gunpowder and Marvel movies and decided to take command of the world from now on. They instruct humans to concentrate more on making the ‘Antman’ spinoff while they take care of the rest of the world. The President of the United States accepts their demand, but deep inside, he is not ready to give up his power.
When the dinosaurs take control, corruption disappears from the Earth. Since there is no longer a need for money to survive, there is no longer any employment. The leaders are currently chasing flies since the masses have no complaints. Beth and the other Smiths, as usual, resent the changes. According to Rick, they have all become Jerry now since they have nothing to do. Meanwhile, Jerry completed and published the writings he had been working on for so long. Rick, on the other hand, is content with whatever the dinosaurs are doing with the world. The President calls him in an emergency, but it’s not for Molly that Rick can set up for him; rather, he wants the dinosaurs to return to their planet.
The dinosaurs’ ancestors departed from Earth before a meteor struck the planet. So, when they came back wanting to dominate the world, no matter how naturally enriched the environment was, the President could not tolerate it. He thus urges Rick to drive them away, but Rick has just one condition. In return for hosting the Oscars, he promises to do so. As the President has no choice left, Rick immediately starts working. He takes Morty right to the dinosaurs. Being an extra smart person, he considers them his equals, but dinosaurs are a bit condescending. Of course, there’s a reason because when Rick wants to send them to an alternate dimension, the dinosaurs reveal that they have more advanced technology to have a better portal gun. Even when they initiate to help close the intergalactic rift, Rick’s inferiority complex kicks in. Although Morty has already cracked the “Clever Girl” joke (from “Jurassic Park” 1993), Therefore, the dinosaurs give them a pamphlet and whisk them home via portal travel.
Rick is furious at this, but when Morty shows him the pamphlet, he discovers that dinosaurs formerly inhabited other planets too. Soon after, in an effort to imitate Laura Dern from “Jurassic Park,” Rick and Morty set off to explore other planets where dinosaurs had vanished, much as they had on Earth. Rick and Morty found dinosaur skeletons in museums on other planets, but because certain aliens lack intellect, they are unable to organize the skeletons properly and have inaccurate beliefs about dinosaurs. Some said that dinosaurs used to skateboard, and some said they used to sing. Rick even discovers a stony fragment of the meteor, which helps him to grasp what exactly wiped off the dinosaurs. In the meantime, at a large gathering, the dinosaurs assemble to converse with the humans while simultaneously promoting Jerry’s book without even mentioning the author. However, Jerry is enraged, but before he can protest, Rick shows up in front of everyone and exposes the dinosaur’s most serious flaw. He asserts that dinosaurs became extinct due to meteor crashes on every planet they had ever inhabited. It’s just because the meteorite has a unique aversion to the dinosaur species and would follow it everywhere it goes, wiping it out. So, before it’s too late, this meteor shower will return to Earth if the dinosaurs are not gone yet. Common people get scared and want to know the way out of the dinosaurs. However, when asked in numerous interviews, TV shows, and podcasts, dinosaurs are unable to comment on that, so they are compelled to depart from the world. The world returns to its prior state, where the rates of crime, pollution, and corruption are once more at 100%. The President is so happy to be back in his old position that he sinks into Molly this time. On his terms, Rick hosts the Academy Awards event. Even if he behaves intoxicatedly on stage and damages the microphone, it’s well-known that everything is scripted.
Not all the problems have been resolved. Summer informs Rick that the dinosaurs are present on Mars and are still begging for attention. They want to take the meteorite and kill themselves, but Rick won’t let them do such a selfless act. So, Rick travels to Mars. The dinosaurs discover Rick, who agrees to die alongside them, standing in the middle of their offering. Dinosaurs use their telekinetic abilities to destroy the meteorite because they believe that if this occurred, Rick would receive the same level of attention as they did. Rick, though, shouldn’t be overjoyed because the dinos also span the interplanetary rift as a favor to him. Although dinosaurs have done what Rick was supposed to do, he is unhappy about this. But fortunately, his portal cannon has been repaired. So, without delay, he returns home to tell Morty the news. Naturally, Morty is ecstatic about that, but Rick keeps making portals to mess with him. In the post-credit scene, Dinosaurs are finally skateboarding for real, which means the planet’s inhabitants weren’t wrong about their assumptions.
“Rick and Morty” Season 6 Episode 6 gives us all the brain-tickling humor along with an insane storyline. After all, our hopes are quadrupled when Rick repairs his portal gun at the end of the episode, hinting that more adventures, creepy characters, and social commentary are about to be brought to Rick and Morty’s time. We hope to get a taste of more portal travel in the upcoming episodes.
